Charlie Thomas Prescott, 94, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013, surrounded by family at home in Boyd. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Springtown, 500 N. Main St., Springtown. Interment: Jaybird Cemetery. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at White's Funeral Home, 401 N. Main St., Springtown. Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, the Prescott family suggests contributions in Charlie's memory to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kan. 66675 or First Baptist Church of Springtown. Charlie Thomas Prescott was born May 1, 1919, in Loraine, son of the late Thomas H. and Alma May Simer Prescott. He married the former Betty Jo Whirley on Sept. 17, 1945, in Colorado City, and together they had one daughter, Sherry. Charlie made his career with Gulf Oil and retired after nearly 30 years of dedicated service. He also served his country with dignity in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged. Charlie was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Springtown. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Betty Jo Prescott; his parents; and 11 siblings. Survivors: Daughter, Sherry Suda, and her husband, Jim; grandaughters, Melissa and Nicole Clark and a host of loving church family.
