Donald Oxford Lawson, 81, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away July 2, 2013 in Azle. Service: 1 pm Saturday, July 6, at White's Funeral Chapel in Springtown. Interment will follow in the Goshen Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 pm Friday at the Funeral Home. Don was born December 30, 1931 in Trinidad, TX. After graduating in 1949 from Pleasant Grove High School in Dallas, he joined the United States Navy, serving four years during the Korean War. He studied a year at SMU then transferred to Texas Tech University where he graduated in 1959. Don pursued a career teaching the sciences and coaching high school athletics. He was an ordained minister in the Primitive Baptist Church and was a member of Indian Oaks Primitive Baptist Church in Lake Worth. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Nell Lawson. Survivors: loving wife of 61 years, Emma Sue; daughters, Pamela Kegans, Gale Scarborough, and Susan Schneider; son, Max Lawson; 9 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dan Lawson, and John Lawson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
