Iva Maria Swift-Weston, 68, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Service: 10:00 A.M. Saturday at White's Azle Chapel, 105 Denver Trail, Azle. Interment: Jaybird Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at White's Azle Funeral Home.Maria Swift-Weston was born June 9, 1945 to Leslie and Geraldine Green in Miami-Dade, Florida. She was an avid horsewoman and loved play days and equestrian drill team competition. She was one of the founding member of the Wise County Wranglers riding club, parade and drill team captains for the Horseshoe Gold riding team and a member of the National Association Riding Clubs and Sheriffs Posses. The drill team members affectionately referred to her as Sergeant Maria. Throughout her life, her greatest loves were riding horses and working with animals.Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Geraldine Green; husband, Larry Swift; and son, Wayne Kinder.Survivors include her son, Jimmy Kinder and wife, Theresa of Springtown; daughters, Renee Hanback and husband, Master Sergeant Phillip Hanback of Colorado Springs, CO., Tina Laughlin and husband, Mark of Worland, Wyoming; step-sons, Wade and Wayne Swift; grandchildren, Amanda, Amber, Austin, Victoria, and Elijah Kinder of Springtown, Madison Kinder of Azle, Broc and Bryan Laughlin of Wyoming, Kori Scherer of Colorado Springs and Daniel Scherer of Houston; and great-grandchildren, David and Corbin Headley of Springtown; sister, Judy Rupert of Columbus, Georgia; and nieces, Leslie Wilson and Trace Waldman.
