William Curtis "Buddy" Collins, 95, went to be with The Lord on Saturday July 27, 2013. Funeral services will be Friday, August 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Mineral Wells. Burial will follow at Woodland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at White's Funeral Home. Buddy was born May 17, 1918 in Grant Town, TX to Jesse C. Collins and Maggie Smith. He was in the Army from 1942-1945 where he was stationed in Hawaii and Tinian Island. He was a lifetime member of The American Legion. In February 1946, he married the love of his life, Lena Elizabeth Wilkinson in Breckenridge, TX. In 1953, they moved to Mineral Wells to raise their two children and also became members of First Baptist Church. Buddy retired from Civil Service in 1975. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 60 years; sister, Helen Allen of Scottsdale, AZ; brother, Ross Collins of Kerrville, TX; his beloved daughter, Betty Carol Mellem; and a much loved sister-in-law, Adelle Martin. He is survived by his son, William Scott Collins and wife, Debbie of Mineral Wells, TX; grandchildren: Nikki Ashley and husband, Rick of Mineral Wells, Denise Mendoza and husband, Jovan of Mineral Wells, Jaime McDougal and husband, Shawn of Mineral Wells, Dena McDowell and husband, Bo of Jourdanton, Jesse Davis and wife Misty of Granbury; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends that he loved dearly. Pallbearers are Billy Allen, Clay Alexander, Charlie Alexander, Rick Ashley, Jovan Mendoza and Shawn McDougal; Honorary Pallbearers are Ty Ashley and Jesse Davis.
