Aledo -- Phillip Moore Cardwell, Jr., 88, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at his home in Aledo. Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Burial: Aledo Brown Cemetery. Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at White's Funeral Home. Phillip Moore Cardwell, Jr. was born April, 14, 1925 in Mineral Wells, son of the late Phillip Moore Cardwell and Mary Kathrine Hubbard. His wife, Virginia Lynn Cardwell, preceded him in death on March 8, 2010 and he has now joined her in heaven. Phillip and Virginia were married on October 5, 1948 and they began their life together lasting 61 beautiful years. He was a livestock farmer, horse trainer, and a true cowboy. Phillip served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was Parker County Commissioner from 1980 to 1984. He loved fishing, playing dominoes, and spending time with his beloved family. Phillip was also preceded in death by his sister, Freda Harwell; and brothers, Arron Ray Cardwell and Pete Wayne Cardwell. Survivors: Son, Phillip Allan Cardwell of Aledo; daughters, Connie Lynn Heady of Brush, CO, and Barbara Jane Turner of Aledo; brother, Billy Law Cardwell; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of a loving family who will dearly miss him and never forget the legacy that this great man left behind.
