Interment will follow at Springtown Cemetery. She was born on February 27, 1929 to Verna Mae Roberson and Herschal Spencer "Pete" Ward in Bailey, Texas. She married her high school sweetheart, Garland Hargis on February 20, 1948. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past spring. Mrs. Hargis worked at the Ft. Worth National Bank, and was a loyal and valued employee there for over 40 years. She and her husband participated in a square dance club for many years. She also was a member of the Meadowbrook Wranglers, riding in "Playdays" on her horse, Honey Boy. Later, she was an avid spectator, watching their daughter, Delinda and then grandson, Parker ride. She was an active member of the American Association of Sheriff Posses and Riding Clubs, serving as secretary in that organization. The center of Mrs. Hargis' life was her family and she most enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother. A favorite pastime was visiting with friends and family members, recalling stories of growing up in "Sam Rayburn" country in northeast Texas. Survivors include her husband, Garland Hargis; daughter and son-in-law, Delinda and Melvin Cantrell and grandson, Parker Cantrell, all of Weatherford; brothers, Charles and Barbara Ward of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and John and Cissy Ward of Longview; several cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
