Garland Wayne Hargis, 86, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2013. Funeral Service: 1 p.m. Tuesday at White's Springtown Chapel, 401 N. Main Street, Springtown. Interment to follow at Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in Garland's memory to the Cal Farley Boys Ranch. Garland Wayne Hargis was born January 23, 1927 to Perk L. and May Brinkley Hargis in Leonard. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Garland retired from Texas Electric Service Company in 1987 after 40 years of service. He was a member of the American Association of Sheriff's Posse and riding clubs and enjoyed watching his daughter, Delinda and grandson, Parker compete. Garland was preceded in death by his loving wife, Delia Hargis on August 18, 2013 and sister, Helen Euvon H. Tripp. Survivors: Daughter, Delinda Cantrell and husband, Melvin, of Weatherford; grandson, Parker Cantrell; siblings, Bob Hargis, Louise Jensen and husband, Will, Dorothy Herman and husband, Bob and Martha Cannon; brothers-in-law, John Ward and wife, Cissy, of Longview and Charles Ward and wife, Barbara, of Toronto, Canada; several nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.
