John Edward Babcock, 78, passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 in Ft. Worth, TX. John was born April 14, 1935 to Chester and Muriel (Brown) Babcock in Waukesha, WI. He was the youngest of six children.John served first in the National Guard, then 17 years in the Marine Corps where he obtained the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. He then completed a lateral move to the Navy and retired after 35 years of military service as the Station Chief, Olathe Naval Air Station, Olathe, KS. In 1996, he retired after 30 years of being employed by the Water District No. 1 of Johnson County, Kansas. There he completed his career as Supervisor of Material Mgmt. After he retired, he moved to Tucson, AZ with his wife Patty. While there he served on the Board of Directors for Tucson Estates. He also was very active with the American Legion where he held various offices including Post Commander. Additionally, he worked part time at Manheim Auto Auction and Volunteered with the Pima County Sheriff"s Auxiliary and various activities at the local VA Hospital. In 2007, John and Patty moved to Springtown, TX so they could be closer to their children.John is survived by: his wife, Patty; his son, Scott Babcock and wife, Darlene; daughter, Shawnda Nachbar and husband, Jim; stepdaughter, Stephanie Wagoner and husband, Dale; sisters, Doris Kranich, and Loraine Babcock; grandchildren, Haley, Steven, Jay, Lauren, and Jimmy.
