WEATHERFORD -- Orva Lou Jones, 89, beloved mother and friend, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 with her loving family by her side. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church of Weatherford, 301 South Main St., Weatherford. Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley, Weatherford. Visitation: 2 - 4 p.m. Sunday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family suggest that donations may be made in Orva Lou's memory to Samaritan's Purse, P. O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 78607, 828-262-1980. Orva Lou Brabson Jones was born on July 13, 1924 to the late Orville Houston and Edna Lou Smith Brabson in Dennis. She became a war bride when she met and married Harvey Eugene "Gene" Jones in Weatherford on April 22, 1943. She and Gene lived in Colorado Springs and Seattle before he was shipped overseas. Orva Lou loved to garden and was wonderful with flowers. She loved to play 80 and cards with friends from the Senior Center. Orva Lou always loved to look after and loved the neighbor's children and she opened her home during the holidays, as all were welcome. She was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church of Weatherford. Orva Lou was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey Eugene "Gene" Jones in 1994; and by her parents.
