Paul Eugene Hoey

MINERAL WELLS -- Paul Eugene Hoey, 89, a devoted, loving father, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, in Mineral Wells. Service: Requiem Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Mineral Wells. The family will receive guests 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home in Mineral Wells. Memorials: In lieu of flowers or plants, a contribution to a favorite charity is requested. Paul was born in Springfield, Mo., the son of John and Alice Connelly Hoey. He thoroughly enjoyed his home state while visiting often throughout his life. His ceramic engineering career began in Fulton, Mo., after graduating from college at the Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, Mo., with time spent in Augusta, Ga., via a second business opportunity, finally retiring in Mineral Wells after a 28-year stint with Can-Tex Industries. As well, Paul honorably served in the Navy as a lieutenant junior grade (Lt. j.g.) in the Pacific theater during World War II while being "captain" of a yard mine sweeper involving various missions. He remained a longtime, active member (since 1955) of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Mineral Wells while being on the vestry several times and serving as senior warden. The "Church" represented a very important part of Paul's life as his deep religious convictions set a sterling example to his family and friends. Other personal interests included family time, playing golf, reading, walking, bridge and associating with numerous friends and neighbors. Paul knew that any and every friendship remained precious in this world as being kind, nice and caring towards others simply came natural to him. And, "Take it easy" was one of Dad's favorite expressions, so do the same in heaven as your family and friends take comfort that you are now at peace with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Hoey; and his wife of 60 years, Frances Scott Hoey. Survivors: Sons, Charles E. Hoey of Dallas and Paul Scott Hoey of Mineral Wells; and daughter, Frances Ann "Frana" of Mineral Wells.White's Funeral HomeMineral Wells, 940-325-3311
