WEATHERFORD -- Billie Ruth Jones, 92, loving mother, grandmother and friend, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 3, 2013. Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday at White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Avenue, Weatherford Interment: East Greenwood Cemetery Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home Billie Ruth Jones was born to John Clifford and Elizabeth Reynolds Mozley on September 9, 1921 in Maypearl. She was joined in 1925 by her beloved sister, LaVerne. Billie was surrounded with a large, loving extended family and her cousins quickly nicknamed her "Skeet". She was a member of the Methodist Church and it was there she developed her love of music, later becoming an accomplished piano player. Billie graduated from Maypearl High School in 1939. After graduation, she was employed at the Maypearl Post Office. One of her duties during World War II was Ellis County Enemy Aircraft Spotter. During this time she belonged to Maypearl Womens Baseball League. She was an excellent ball player and retained those skills her entire life. In 1944, Billie moved to Fort Worth where she met the love of her life, Bill Jones. They were married on a sunny Saturday afternoon, October 19, 1946. In 1948, their son, Evan David was born. She was a proud and loving mother. In 1950, Billie and Bill moved to his hometown, Weatherford. In 1953, they were blessed with another son, John. Billie was a member of Calvary Methodist, where she had served as church pianist. She was a Christian throughout her life, always loving, forgiving and kind. Billie was quick to extend a lasting friendship with whomever she met. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Mozely; husband, William Jones; son, John R. Jones; and sister, LaVerne Heard. Survivors include: Son, David and wife, Cathy; granddaughters, Jenifer Houdmann and Jill Jones; great-grandsons, Charles Houdmann and Wyatt Arbor; niece, Cindy Freckman; cousins, Sue Mozley, Debbie Davis Arndt; and many extended family members who will cherish her memory.
