Frances Louise "Lou" McCreary, 86, of Weatherford, went to be with her heavenly Father on March 29, 2014.Born in Parker County on May 27, 1927 to A.B. and Josie Powell McCreary. Lou moved to Orange County, California as a young adult and began a career with North American Rockwell, now known as Boeing, where she worked on the Apollo and Space Shuttle mission spacecraft and on the Grand Coulee Dam. Upon her retirement, she moved back to Weatherford. Lou was a devout Catholic, active member of St. Stephens Catholic Church, served briefly as Chair of the Parker County Democratic party, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, loved to take road trips on the back roads of Texas, and could cause whiplash stopping for garage sales along the way! She was the favorite aunt of all her nieces and nephews and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.Lou was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Verbon McCreary, Glen McCreary, Porter McCreary and A.B. McCreary; sisters, Berta Campbell, Audrey Olson and Jonell Plumlee; and several nieces and nephews.She is survived by her sister, Ruth Roberts Plumlee of Weatherford, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her great niece, Leslie Garbreaith Zeller, for helping take care of her during the final years of her life.White's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service is scheduled for a later date. The family requests memorials be made to St. Stephens Catholic Church of the Alzheimer's Association.
