FORT WORTH -- Robert Groom, 76, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014, while enjoying one of his favorite pastimes, playing golf with friends. Memorial service: Robert's life will be celebrated 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Shady Oaks Country Club. Robert Wayne Groom was born May 27, 1937, in Nemo, son of the late Jake and Dortha Hendon Groom. He married Linda Dixon in Fort Worth on Oct. 14, 1988. Robert served as a captain in the Army and worked in the real estate field for over 40 years. Robert was an ideal husband, father and friend. Among his passions were golf, metal detecting, traveling and spoiling his 10 grandchildren. He was a member of Shady Oaks Country Club and a longtime member of Ridglea Country Club. Robert graduated in 1955 from Polytechnic High School and later earned a B.A. from Hardin Simmons University, an M.F.A. from the University of Dallas and a ranch management degree from TCU. Robert served as high school class president and lettered in football, baseball and basketball. He continued his natural athletic abilities at Hardin Simmons University where he also played football, baseball and basketball. A Fort Worth resident for over 70 years, Robert frequently recognized Fort Worth acquaintances and never forgot a name. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Travis Groom. Survivors: Wife of 26 years, Linda Groom of Fort Worth; children, Robin Riccelli of Austin, Leslie Dominguez and husband, Andy, of Austin, Bret Whiteley and wife, Ruie, of Fort Worth, Terry Fuqua and wife, Pam, of Aledo, and Dan Fuqua and Jessica, of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Christina Riccelli, Kirsten LeCompte, Camden Whiteley, Matthew Fuqua, Madi Riccelli, Josh Fuqua, Alex Dominguez, Katie Dominguez, Evelyn Fuqua and Georgia Fuqua; great-granddaughter, Shaelyn LeCompte; brother, Winky Groom of Fort Worth; and countless loving friends.White's Funeral HomeWeatherford, 817-596-4811
