Ella Lucille Homsley

ALEDO -- Lucille Butler Homsley, (owner of Lucille's Beauty Shop in Aledo), 96, peacefully went to be with the Lord, Sunday morning, May 4th, 2014 at her home. Memorial Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7th at Church at the Crossing (Formerly First Baptist) in Aledo, with Rev. Lee Brewer officiating. Visitation: The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Ella Lucille Butler was born to Alphonzo Carlos Butler, Jr. and Rebecca Jane Morgan Butler on the 3rd of February 1918, in Parker County. She was one of nine siblings, all of whom have preceded her in their homecoming. Lucille accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized in a creek while attending Center Pointe Baptist Church in Annetta. At the age of 16, Lucille met Homer Laverne Homsley better known as "Bun" at a skating rink. Lucille was married to Laverne on September 26th, 1936, in Parker County, where they settled in Aledo. To this union, Ivan Donald Homsley was born. He served in the U. S. Army and was killed in Vietnam in 1968. Lucille was well known as the owner of Lucille's Beauty Shop, which was located on the side of her home. She cut, curled and permed hair for 50 plus years. Even at the age of 96, she was still doing favors for friends who needed a perm. Her customers became like family and considered Lucille to not only fix their hair but their personal problems as well. One of her life verses was "Cast your burdens on the Lord, and He will sustain you. " Psalm 55:22 Lucille was a member of the First Baptist Church of Aledo for over 70 years, now known as Church at the Crossing, and was noted as the oldest member of the church. Other joys were teaching her senior Bible study group and working in her garden.
