WEATHERFORD -- Billy Jim "B.J." Davenport, 89, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014. Funeral: 3 p.m. Wednesday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Interment: Whitt Cemetery. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in B.J.'s memory to Gardendale Hospice, 10300 N. Central Expressway, Suite 500, Dallas, Texas 75231. Billy Jim Davenport was born Oct. 24, 1924, to J.D. "Dock" and Malissie Josephine Brock Davenport in Whitt. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and later made his career in service to his fellow man as a Texas State trooper. B.J. retired from the Department of Public Safety in 1985 and was later named an honorary Texas Ranger. He was a godly man who is considered a hero by everyone in his family. B.J. loved his family dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Corene Mask Davenport; two brothers; and four sisters.
