Robert J. "Bob" Lavender, 87, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014. Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday at The Meeting Place at Ash Creek Baptist Church, 301 S. Stewart, Azle 76020. Interment: New Hope Cemetery, 782 New Hope Rd., Boyd 76023. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at White's Azle Funeral Home.Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ash Creek Baptist Church.Bob was born Dec. 11, 1926, in Fort Worth to Leo Lester and Pearl Beasley Lavender. He graduated from North Side High School and graduated from Texas A&M in 1953. He married the love of his life, Emma Lee Dunkin, on Sept. 5, 1947. She preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 2013. Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army in World War II.He was a Mason, a member of the Breakfast Optimist Club in Fort Worth and a member of the Society of Professional Engineers. Bob was a faithful member and deacon of Ash Creek Baptist Church in Azle.He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Leota Garrison.Survivors: Son, Mike Lavender and wife, Ellen, of North Richland Hills; daughter, Betsy Mulder and husband, Alan, of Willow City; son, Craig Lavender and wife, Nancy, of Azle; grandchildren, Micah Lavender, Melissa Lotspeich, Chris Mulder, Brandon Lavender and Lindsay Gray; nine great-grandchildren; and other loving family and friends.
