BENBROOK -- D.W. Maxwell, 79, passed away Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014 in Fort Worth. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Community Cemetery, 3199 Greenwood Cut-Off Road, Weatherford. Visitation: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, the Maxwell family suggests consideration of contributions in Red's memory to Alzheimer's Association - North Central Texas Chapter, 2630 West Freeway, Suite 100, Fort Worth, Texas 76102, or www.alz.org. Derrell Wayne Maxwell was born April 25, 1935, in Abilene, son of the late Harold and Bertha Williams Maxwell. Red married Julia on Aug. 21, 1952, in Abilene, and they began their life journey. He graduated from Abilene High School with the class of 1953 and began his career with Automation in Abilene. In 1969, Red went to work for General Dynamics in Fort Worth, a career that lasted for 25 years. Before his retirement, Red and Julia spent time working in Denmark and Turkey. Red never met a stranger. He loved to grill and taught most of the men in the family the art of grilling. Woodworking, fishing, and hunting were his hobbies as well as ranching. Red was meticulous about everything he did and even taught himself how to play the steel guitar, harmonica, and saxophone. Red was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Julia Maxwell, on May 8, 2013; his parents; and two brothers. Survivors: Daughters, Judy Krasher of Phoeniz, Ariz., Rhonda Wentz and husband, Bob, of Benbrook, and Sherry Zarate and husband, Roland, of Euless; grandchildren, Daniel Krasher and wife, Robin, of Austin, Brian Hebert of Austin, Lisa Gorski and husband, Bryan, of Frederick, Colo., Victoria Soria of Benbrook, T.J. Zarate and fiancee, Polly Conner, of North Richland Hills, Brent Parker and wife, Rebecca, of Denver, Colo., Crystal Parker and fiance, Randy Thompson, of Chandler, Melanie Higgins and husband, Patrick, of Arlington, Hillary Moore and husband, Ryan, of Arlington, and Brett Wentz of Denver, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Malachi Soria, Cameron Moore, and Ben Higgins; brother, Paul Dean Maxwell and wife, Betty, of Marietta, Ga.; and a host of loving family and friends.White's Funeral HomeWeatherford, 817-596-4811
