WEATHERFORD -- Katherine White, 81, passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, in Weatherford. Requiem Memorial Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday at All Saints' Anglican Church, 125 S Waco St., Weatherford. Inurnment: Memory Gardens of the Valley. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to All Saints' Anglican Church, 125 S Waco St., Weatherford, Texas 76086. Inurnment: Memory Gardens of the Valley. Katherine Joyce Ray White, known as "Cathy" to all who knew her, passed away on Nov. 2, 2014. She was born on Feb.25, 1933, in Lancaster, Ky. to Fanny Edgington Ray and Elmer Ray. Cathy began life as a vivacious child and remained so throughout her years. It could be said that "everyone knew her and she made friends with all'. She had a beautiful singing voice and at Lee Edwards High School in Asheville, N.C., she received a scholarship to develop her talent, but decided to make a home instead. She married William Edwin White on Sept. 9, 1951, and together they raised two children, Edwin Ray White and Laurie Ann White. She and "Bill", children in tow, moved coast to coast several times as Bill pursued his career in the Navy. Somewhere in between, in 1970, she earned a BS in Accounting and Business Administration from Fresno State University in California. After Bill retired from the Navy, Cathy became Comptroller/General Manager of a Dallas fabric company, until she retired, and the couple moved to Weatherford. Cathy then poured the same zest she had for business into a new life of community service. Among her accomplishments are: Past President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Senior Advisor of the Newcomers Club; Past President of the Garden Study Club; Past Activity Chairman and Crafts Chairman of the Peach Festival; Past President and Treasurer of the Spring Festival; Past Vice President and Treasurer of the American Cancer Society; a member of the Heart Association; served on the Family Services Advisory Council; Past President of the Texas Community Education Advisory Council Association; Past President and Treasurer of the Community Education Advisory Council; a Vestry member, Junior Warden, and Past President of All Saints Church Women. She also served on the Parker County Committee on Aging Board, the Weatherford Library Board and Library Foundation, and was a Past President of the Friends of the Weatherford Library Board. Cathy also owned Blue Cat Antiques and Collectables, was an avid bridge player, and loved to travel all over the U.S. with Bill in their recreational vehicle searching for great "finds". Survivors:Cathy is survived by her husband, Bill; son, Edwin White and wife, Melissa; daughter, Laurie White King and husband, Ronnie, four grandchildren, Christy Crosson, Matthew White and wife, Jackie, Rachel White Unclebach and husband, Nathan, John Wims and wife, Jessica; four great-grandchildren, Jackson Harper White, Jacob Matthew White, Aiden Unclebach and Cameron Unclebach. She is also survived by her two sisters, Dora Ray Belew and Betty Ann Ray Richardson, both of Weatherford; and numerous nieces and nephews, all dearly loved.White's Funeral HomeWeatherford, 817-596-4811
