Vernell A Jeffreys

SPRINGTOWN -- Vernell A Jeffreys, 82, of Springtown passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in a local hospital. Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home. Interment: 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at DFW National Cemetery. Mrs. Jeffreys was born February 2, 1932 in Lockesburg, Arkansas to Lloyd W. Harrison and Gladys E. Bassham Harrison. She retired after many years with the Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District. After retirement she worked in her flower garden, crocheted, and enjoyed all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Peaster Baptist Church, as well as a devoted wife and mother who loved her family unconditionally. She always put her family first, and took care of her three girls while their daddy was away on numerous deployments overseas. Mrs. Jeffreys is survived by her loving husband of almost 63 years, James E. Jeffreys. Daughters, Sharon and husband, Frankie Johnson of Horatio, AR; Jimmie Nell and husband, Dwight Helms of Texarkana, AR; Charlotte and husband, Buddy Porter, of Springtown. Grandsons, James and wife, Amy Helms, and their children Breana and Callie of Fouke, AR; Chad Helms and sons, Peyton, Tyler, and Brody of Fouke, AR; and Kenny Porter and wife, Jennifer, and their sons, Landon and Aidon. Granddaughters, Shelley Porter and daughter Juliana of Springtown; and Lindsay Porter of Lubbock. Also surviving are 3 sisters, 1 brother, 8 sisters-in-law, 5 brothers-in-law, several nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends. In addition to flowers donations may be made to Neighbors to Neighbors of Springtown or a charity of your choice.
