Velma Evans

Velma Lee Evans, 92, of Mineral Wells, passed away at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in Mineral Wells.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015 at White"s Funeral Home 101 N.E. 4th Ave. Mineral Wells, Texas 76067 with Rev. Nathan Buchanan and Rev. Roger Keck officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Park Cemetery in Mineral Wells. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2015 at White"s Funeral Home.Mrs. Evans was born on March 6, 1922 in Colgate, Oklahoma the daughter of the late Ray and Willie Herrin. She was married to the late A K Evans who preceded her in death on January 25, 1981. She was employed by the Mineral Wells ISD for 33 years, retiring in February 1992. Mrs. Evans had been a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church.Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Pope and husband, Dan of Lubbock; daughter-in-law, Nancy Evans of Richardson; grandchildren, Kent Pope of Lubbock, Kelly Pope and wife, Robin of Lubbock, Keith Pope and wife, Jennifer of Mineral Wells, Steve Evans of Richardson, and Sherry Kimbell and husband, John of North Carolina; she is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, Sarah Pope, Kagan Pope, Taylor Edwards, Ethan Shirley, Austin Pope, Morgan McCall, Shelby Landus, Georgia, Lucy and Caroline Kimbell; and two great-great grandchildren.Pallbearers, Keith Pope, Kelly Pope, Dr. Ed Evans, Steve Evans, Leonard Ayers, and Del Delrio; Honorary Pallbearers, Kent Pope, and Austin Pope
