Fort Worth -- Edna Merle Burgess, 86, beloved sister, aunt and friend, passed away Friday, Jan. 16, 2015. Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Monday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Visitation: 1 - 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Merle was born January 31, 1928 to Herbert Clarence and Bessie Landers Burgess in Azle. She attended North Texas University. Merle was very proud to have worked as a private secretary for various oil companies as far away as Tripoli, Libya throughout her career, ultimately working for the Moncrief Oil Co. until her retirement. Having a wonderful sense of adventure, she traveled extensively all over the world and belonged to many travel clubs. Merle was witty with a strong sense of humor. She loved her family and cherished the friends she made all over the world. The family expresses their gratitude to Dr. Dearden and staff and to Comfort Keepers and special caregiver, Gloria. Merle was preceded in death by nephew, John Adcock; niece, Brenda Burgess Smith; brother, Claude Burgess; and sister, Helen Adcock. Survivors: Sister, Dorothy Futch; brothers, Waymon Burgess and wife, Peggy and Joe Burgess and wife, Lynn; nieces, Melissa Garner, Cindy Tanner, Tammy Harris, Debra Blackburn, Vicki Stellar, Tammy Bodiford and Kara Williams; nephews, Shannon Bodiford, Bryan Futch, Eric Adcock, David Burgess, Charles Burgess, Jr. and Troy Bodiford; and many other loving family members and dear friends.White's Funeral HomeWeatherford, 817-596-4811
