WEATHERFORD -- James Dale Dixon, 78, passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, surrounded by family at his home in Weatherford. Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 1802 Bethel Road, Weatherford. Interment: Memory Gardens of the Valley. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, the Dixon family suggests contributions in James' memory to his grandson's memorial, the Carter Robertson Charitable Foundation at First Financial Bank. James Dale Dixon was born Dec. 6, 1936, in Brady, Texas, the first born to the late James Vernon and Velma Horne Dixon. He graduated with the class of 1955 from Andrews High School and then from North Texas State Teacher's College in 1961. Prior to his retirement from Lockheed in 1993 after 28 years of service, James was a professional golfer; he had designed, built and managed various golf courses across West Texas and New Mexico. He was also involved in buying, selling and hauling cattle, particularly the Limousin breed, as well as raising miniature horses. James was a golf fanatic and marshal at Split Rail Links and Golf Club in Aledo. In his younger years, he was a member of the Westside Bass Club, a Western Hills Little League coach, a GDRA Pee-Wee Football coach, and a member of Western Hills Softball Association. James was also a 25-year member of the Knights of Columbus. James married Jackie at St. Patrick Cathedral in Fort Worth and would have celebrated 56 years of marriage in August. He was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church since moving to Weatherford in 1988. James was preceded in death by a grandson, Carter Robertson, in 2006 and his parents. Survivors: Wife of 55 years, Jackie Dixon of Weatherford; children, Jennifer Robertson and husband, Dave, of Perrin, Jody Giles and husband, Roy, of Granbury, Jeanie Schmidt of Grandview, and James Dale Dixon Jr. and wife, Georgia, of Waxahachie; grandchildren, Austin, Randall and Cooper Robertson, Elizabeth Slough and husband, Michael, Lee Giles, Travis Schmidt and wife, Heather, Brittany McPherson and husband, Matthew, Bailey Lee and husband, Cory, Tanner Schmidt, Jaden Dixon and Sydney Dixon; four great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Micheal Dixon and wife, Eloise, of Keller; and a host of loving family and friends.White's Funeral HomeWeatherford, 817-596-4811
