Mayme Ruth Barber Heartsill entered the Gates of Heaven on January 25, 2015, greeted by her Savior, loving husband, John L, and her two beautiful daughters, Linda Ruth Heartsill McGuire and Betty Lou Heartsill, son-in-law MH McGuire III, her loving father, mother, brothers, sister and a host of friends.Service: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Baptist Church, 1504 Greenwood Cut-Off Rd., Weatherford, 76088. Mayme Ruth was born on May 24, 1921 to the marriage of Winburn Barber and Mary Anne Goodson Barber of the Greenwood Community in Parker County, Texas. Mayme's childhood was blessed with a large loving family. Winburn and Mary Anne Barber blessed Mayme with brothers Bert, Henry, Harry, W.L.( Bud), Ray, Ralph, Billy and a sister, Marzell Barber Pritchard.Mayme attended the Greenwood Community School through the sixth grade before attending Weatherford schools. Upon Mayme's graduation she attended Weatherford College before starting her professional career as a school teacher in the two room school of the Carter Community in Parker County. She had met this dashing Vo. Ag. Teacher from Weatherford named John L Heartsill who would become her soul mate and future husband. Mayme and John married on August 28th, 1942 in the parsonage of the First Baptist Church in Weatherford, a marriage which would last for 67 years until John L's death.Mayme's life with John L was filled with work and excitement. John L being a basketball referee required him and Mayme to attend games most week nights. Mayme and John L decided to open their own business so in 1947 Heartsill's Store opened on the square in Weatherford and remains open for business till this day. Mayme and John L were blessed with four children who were each made to feel special and loved. Linda Ruth was the first born, followed by Sam, Dan and Betty Lou.Mayme worked later in the family business and met and became friends with scores of Parker County residents. John L passed away in 2009 but Mayme continued on as the keystone of the family.Mayme had a beautiful life and her goal as a young girl was to have a loving family and a little house with a white picket fence. She got the loving family but the picket fence was made of barb wire instead as Mayme and John L ranched and raised Angus cattle in the Brock community. The statue of the ?Black Bull? on the Dennis road is a landmark used by many in Parker County.Survivors: Mayme is survived by her sons, Sam Heartsill and his wife, Cheryl Heartsill, and Dan Heartsill and his special friend, Mary Buck; grandsons, Marvin H. McGuire IV and his wife, Victoria, John L. Heartsill McGuire and his wife, Nichole, Matthew Land McGuire and his wife, Melissa; and granddaughter, Mari Anne McGuire and her husband, Lawrence Ewell. She is also survived by many loving great grand children.Mayme had a special relationship with her granddaughter, Mari Anne McGuire. Mari Anne is just as beautiful, sweet and kind as her mother and grandmother.Mayme had a great life that she wouldn't have traded with anyone.
