Marvin Pierce Lott, Jr. known to his friends and family as Ping, died peacefully at home in Aspermont on January 10, 2014 after a long illness. Visitation with family will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at McCoy Funeral Home in Aspermont from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Visitation will be at White Funeral Home in Springtown on January 15 from 6pm until 8pm and he will be buried at Springtown Cemetery January 16 at a graveside service at 1:00pm. Marvin was born to Marvin Pierce Lott Sr. and Mallie Eska Eggelsotn on June 10 1923 in Wichita County, Texas. The family moved to Swenson, Texas to farm cotton. When he graduated from Swenson High School, he and his brother Kenneth enlisted in the United States Navy at the beginning of World War II and served out the war as Seaman First Class. He served four tours in the Asian-Pacific Theater. He was awarded the Philippine Liberation Medal, a Victory Medal, a good conduct medal and a Purple Heart for being wounded in a battle in the Pacific, when he returned from the war he continued farming. Marvin and Margie Chilcutt were married in August of 1953 and remained married 48 years until her death in 2001. They had one daughter Karen who they raised in Aspermont. Marvin worked for the United States Postal Service as a Star Route mail carrier where he drove over a million miles, and he also continued to farm. Marvin was survived by his daughter, Karen; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him very much. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie, his parents Marvin and Mallie; one sister, Ruth Jane MacDougall, brothers, Jack, Kenneth, Leland, and Donald Kay. The family request donations to Hendrick Hospice Care or to The American Red Cross.
