Linda Drake Stephens

WILLOW PARK -- Linda Darlene Stephens, 65, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2013. Linda Green Stephens was born to Dayton Worth Green and Dorothy Overby Green in Childress on Oct. 28, 1948. After graduating from high school in Rule, Linda attended McMurry College where she met her future husband, Mike Stephens. Linda belonged to the Delta Beta Sorority and received a B.S. in education from McMurry in 1972. On July 22, 1972, she and Mike were married, and six years later their son, Zac, was born. Linda was a wonderful mother to her infant son whom she saved by adoption and made her own with the truest sort of love. She was the foundation of the home, as she and Mike shared 40 years of life's joys and sorrows and raised their son. Linda leaves a legacy in the minds of her grandsons, whom she adored with every ounce of her being, and her quiet strength and tenacity as a 30-year cancer survivor will continue to serve as a reminder of the power of the human spirit to all.
