BIG SPRING -- Rev. George W. Ivy, passed from this earthly life on December 4, 2013 at Scenic Mountain Hospital in Big Spring, Texas at the age of 94. He was born on October 29, 1919 to Lorenzo Price Ivy & Norah Robinson Ivy, in Van Zandt County, Texas. He married Ludene Mitchell on September 9, 1938. She preceded him in death on August 24, 2005. He was a licensed minister with the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee, beginning his ministry in 1948. They pastored churches in Haskell, Midland, Abilene, Lubbock, Amarillo and Fort Worth. He also served in the Navy in 1944 & 1945. He is survived by his wife, Juanita of Big Spring, Texas; daughters, Betty Pruitt & husband, Ken, of Midland, Texas, Gay Lawhon & husband, Floyd, of Deland, Florida; and son, Larry Ivy & wife, Billie, of Eula, Texas. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren; as well as one stepson, Gary Osburn & wife, Janet, of Big Spring, Texas; and one step-daughter, Janice Shields & husband, Royce, of Fort Worth, Texas; 8 step-grandchildren; and 6 step-great-grandchildren; also one brother, Loyd Ivy & wife, Sarah, of Mesquite, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; & four sisters. Visitation will be Monday evening, December 9, 2013, from 6:00-8:00 at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Services will be held on December 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of God Campground, Fort Worth Hwy., Weatherford. Rev. Floyd H. Lawhon will be officiating, assisted by Pastor Eddie Prince. Interment will be at East Greenwood Cemetery immediately following the service. Pallbearers will be his great grandsons, Bryce & Logan Pruitt, Luke & Andrew Erwin, Braydon & Rylan Ivy, Kevin Lawhon, Wade & Derek Hammond, Landon Ivy, Nikolas Vigne. Honorary Pallbearers are step-great-grandsons, Gary, Kevin & Curtis Osburn, and Tony Scharbrough. Thanks to all the special people who took care of, prayed for, and visited during this time of illness. He was a great example of a life lived for Christ with a great love for God and family.
