Emma Kathryn Smith Ranft, 97, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Monday, December 31, 2012. Service: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013 at White's Funeral Home. Interment: McAdams Cemetery, Possum Kingdom Lake. Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Possum Kingdom Lake Fire and EMS department, PO Box 343, Graford, TX 76449. Kathryn was born October 11, 1915 in Dallas County to Merit and Mora Smith. She was a longtime resident of Possum Kingdom Lake. Kathryn was a self-employed business woman and homemaker. She loved to quilt and embroider. Kathryn has received many awards including Citizen of the Year and several awards from the Possum Kingdom Lake Fire and EMS Departments. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star and also served as an election judge. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pat; sons, Daniel and James; daughter-in-law, Patsy; four sisters; and five brothers. Survivors: Son, Tom Ranft and wife, Diana of Possum Kingdom Lake; daughter, Judy Lewis and husband, Jim of Krum; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild.
