Delano James Evenson

Del Evenson passed peacefully at his Azle home on November 2, 2012. A Veteran's inurnment service is pending. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made in Del's name to VFW Post 2137 in Azle. He was a True Patriot and will be missed by family, friends and people he has helped over the years.Delano J. Evenson was born October 4, 1943 in Austin, Minn., the first son of George and Olga Evenson.He graduated High School in Fertile, Iowa. He honorably served six years in the United States Navy, including a tour in Vietnam. Del retired from the United States Dept. of Agriculture in Omaha and in Fort Worth.He has lived in Azle since 1980, and was All State Team Quartermaster at VFW Post 2137 and active with other local Veterans organzations for many years. He didn't like legistation from the bench; only three days to celebrate America; Veterans Day, Memorial Day and July 4th. Don't forget about it the other 362 days.Del was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers. Del is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Kimberley Jo; two step-daughters;two granddaughters; three grandsons; brother, Marlin; sisters, Dixie and Judy; and many nieces and nephews.
