FORT WORTH -- Vivian Charleen Plumly Pollard, 83, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, surrounded by family at home in Fort Worth. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Wednesday in Leonard Memorial Chapel at First United Methodist Church, 800 W. Fifth St., Fort Worth. Interment: private. Fifth St., Fort Worth, Texas 76102, or Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 10750 Westpoint Blvd., Fort Worth, Texas 76108. Charleen was born April 23, 1929, in Fort Worth, daughter of the late Leon Jacob and Dessie Adele Johnson Plumly. Charleen married James Tris Pollard in Leonard Memorial Chapel of First United Methodist Church on July 28, 1956, and they began their life together. She was a native of Fort Worth, whose family has been in Texas since 1850 and the fourth generation to live in Fort Worth. Charleen received her BBA from TCU and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth. She was a retired vice president of an independent oil company and a member of many different clubs. Her memberships included Woman's Club of Fort Worth, president of Creative Arts Study Club and chairman of Texas Library and Interior Decorating Department; Fort Worth Garden Club; charter member of TCU Women Exes, Thursday Morning Group; charter member of Fort Worth Desk & Derrick Club; North Fort Worth Historical Society; Historic Preservation Council for Tarrant County; Fort Worth Genealogical Society; president, South Hills PTA; life member, Texas State Historical Association and published in its Southwestern Historical Quarterly; president, Fort Worth Model A Ford Club and editor of its Cowtown "A" for more than 10 years; and Model A Ford Club of America and Model A Restorers Club and published in its magazine. Charleen was preceded in death by her parents.
