Joyce Lorethan Slate

PARADISE -- Joyce Slate, 83, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 in Decatur. Service: 10:00 A.M. Monday at White's Funeral Home in Springtown. Interment to follow in the Cottondale Cemetery Visitation is Sunday, August 12th from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Joyce was born in Wise County to Alvin and Gladys Banks April 30, 1929. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earnest of 52 years; two brothers; and one sister. Joyce, a long time resident of Paradise was an avid Bridge player, loving mother, and grandmother. Survivors: son, Steve Slate and wife, Nancy (Sam) of Decatur; brothers, Benny Banks, Dean Banks and wife, Shirley, Jerry Banks and wife, Joann; sister, Nona Rick and husband, Fred; grandchildren, Parker and Raena Slate; and long time loving caregiver, Margarita Valenzuela.
