William Afton Daniel

WEATHERFORD -- William Afton Daniel, 78, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Interment: Greenwood Community Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideon's International, 8600 Skyline Drive, #1005, Dallas, Texas 75243. William Afton Daniel was born May 16, 1934, in Clay County, to Jewel Wilson and Henry Richard Daniel. He graduated from Mountain View High School in Mountain View, Okla. in 1953. In Oct. 1953, he joined the Army, where he worked on helicopters and learned skills that would eventually lead him to a career with the Federal Aviation Administration. He retired from the F.A.A. in 1994 and ran his own aviation consulting firm, Bill Daniel and Associates, until December 2009. It was in 1955, while stationed at Fort Rucker, Ala. that William met and married the love of his life, Margaret Snellgrove. William and Margaret were married on Oct. 27, 1956, in Newton, Ala. Together they were blessed with five children, Douglas, Karen, Bruce, Laura and Aelanda. A special thank you to the staff at Estates Health Care and Texas Hospice for their care and support during William's final days. Survivors: Wife of 55 years, Margaret Daniel; sons, Douglas Daniel and wife, Sue, of Shoreline, Wash., Bruce Daniel and wife, Bonnie, of Harrisburg, N.C.; daughters, Karen Horn and husband, Darrell, of Richmond, Laura Horn and husband, Dennis, of Oceanside, Calif. and Aelanda Counts and husband, Rondal, of Azle; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Eula Wilson of Greenville, Rheda Butler of Cordell, Okla. and Evelyn Swanda of Carnegie, Okla.; brother, Bill Pendleton of Mountain View, Okla.; and numerous family and friends.
