Carroll Edgar "Sonny" Lindsey, Jr. ,81, went to be with his Lord on May 31, 2012. Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Monday at Crossroads Baptist Church, 6003 FM 1886, Azle. Interment: Dicey Cemetery. Visitation: 2 to 4 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Carroll was born to Carroll Edgar and Vandene Lindsey on November 7, 1930 in Fort Worth. Carroll joined the United States Army/Air Force in 1948 and retired in 1973 at the rank of Master Sergeant and a Flight Engineer at Travis Air Force Base in California. He was a Vietnam veteran and during his military career, he served overseas in Japan, Okinawa and Turkey. He met his wife, Michiko (Mickey), while stationed in Japan and was married on April 17, 1956 and returned to Texas in 1958. They left for California in 1962 and later returned to Texas in 1978 where they made their home in Azle. After his retirement from the military, he went to Solano Community college in California and earned an Associates of Arts degree in Marketing. He later majored as Automotive Service Technician at TCJC NW Campus. He kept busy trying his hands at various trades until he was employed at General Dynamics and retired in 1991. He became a Christian later in life and it changed him. Studying the Bible and having daily devotional time with God became important to him. He was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church for many years. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Thelma Jean Shields. Survivors: wife, Michiko; daughters, Setsuko Boone and husband, Ray of Winters, Calif.,and Nobuko Ishibashi and husband, Pat Sheehy of Encinitas, Calif.; granddaughter, Sandra Libertino and husband, Dan of Cardiff, Calif.; grandson, Steven Boone and wife, Willow; great-grandchildren, Carson and Sienna Boone of Walnut Creek, Calif.; sister, Betty Jo Nesbit; various nieces and nephews; and numerous loving friends.
