Joseph Alford Jennings

Joe Jennings, 74, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012, in Decatur.Graveside service: 2 p.m. Friday in Springtown Cemetery. Reverend John Conway will officiate. Joseph Alfred Jennings was born Feb. 14, 1938, in Jamestown, Ala., son of the late William F. and Clara L. Gardner Jennings. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy and retired after many dedicated years of service. After retirement from the Navy, Joe made his career with Lockheed Martin and also retired after many faithful years. Joe married Cathryn Jennings in Summerville, Ga., on Dec. 13, 1958, and they began their life together. Joe was a longtime resident of Springtown. Joe was preceded in death by a daughter, Dana Jo Jones; a son, Mike Jennings; parents; and four brothers and sisters. Survivors: Wife of 53 years, Cathryn Jennings; children, Nathan Alan Jennings, Mary Page Jennings, Penny Alana Joyner and husband, Steven, and Lee Ann Bowen and husband, Gordon; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Steven Douglas Jennings and wife, Lynn; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
