Roy Eldon Ballew

Roy Eldon "Bud" Ballew, age 83, left this world on January 13, 2012.Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at White's Funeral Home, 401 N. Main St., Springtown. Interment: Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.Roy was born on the family cotton farm in O'Donnell, Texas, on May 10, 1928, and was a member of the United States Air Force for four years. He worked for General Dynamics for 26 years where he retired in 1988. In retirement, he enjoyed gardening, bowling, and his dogs. He is remembered fondly by all for his great sense of humor and quick wit, and he always said, "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." He brought a smile to the faces of everyone he met, and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Ruth Ballew, and his brother Marion Raymond Ballew, all of O'Donnell, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Gerry Ballew, and his son Roy Michael Ballew, both of Springtown; his daughter Judi Conger and husband Bob, grandson Dustin Smalley and wife Ashley, and granddaughter Stacy Smalley, all of Runaway Bay; grandson Bobby Conger and granddaughter Crystal Conger of Weatherford; and one great-granddaughter Aubrey Smalley also of Runaway Bay.
