Sybol May Walker Dean, a lifelong resident of Weatherford, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2012. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lakeshore Drive Baptist Church, 200 S. Lakeshore Drive, Weatherford. Interment: East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at White's Funeral Chapel. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Lake Shore Drive Baptist Church Foreign Mission Fund. Sybol was born June 8, 1921, the second child of Calvin Martin Walker and Lillie May Vance Walker. She married Wilburn Wilson Dean of Weatherford on Feb. 6, 1938, and they were married for 49 years; he preceded her in death June 27, 1987. Also preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, Inez Walker Buhl; and her special friend, Mr. J.A. Brown. Sybol descended from several pioneer Parker County settlers. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Weatherford for 82 years and served as a Sunday school teacher, GA and WMU leader, and nursery worker. In her later years she attended Lake Shore Drive Baptist Church with her children. She retired as a secretary at Weatherford College. Sybol's family was the joy of her life. She was a talented seamstress and was famous for her home cooking. Survivors: Daughters and son, Myrna Dean Cantrell of Huntsville, Melinda Dean Chrestman and her husband, Judge Don Marshall Chrestman, of Weatherford and Calvin Carl "Corky" Dean of Weatherford; grandchildren, Carlton Bryan Cantrell, Navy Cmdr. David Cantrell, Catherine Elizabeth Cantrell Moak, Collin Davis Cantrell, Shelley Chrestman Bracken, Dean Marshall Chrestman and Laura Elizabeth Chrestman Janssen; and 20 great-grandchildren.
