Imogene Wallace Pharo was born Jan. 25, 1913, in Fairview, daughter of the late A.D. and Emma Knight Wallace. She graduated from Millsap High School and began a career in nursing. Imogene later became an LVN through the Weatherford College Program. She married Thomas Jarvis Pharo on Dec. 18, 1932, and they began their life together. Imogene and Tom worked closely together to build their business, Pharo and James Grocery and Market. She sang with the Sensational Senior Singers of the Senior Center. Imogene was singing up until her stroke in November. She and Tom were king and queen at the Sr. Center where they were active until Tom's death in 2000. Imogene loved painting, sewing, flowers, tree, birds, and working in her yard. She taught Sunday School for many years at the church, working with young girls, including Girl Scouts. Imogene was also a mentor to those desiring to become nurses. Many doctors and friends were always treated to date-loaf candy she made each Christmas. Imogene was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Thomas Jarvis Pharo, a Weatherford native, on Dec. 3, 2000; her parents; brother, Aubrey Wallace; sister, Clyde Roquemore; son-in-law, Idys Waynne Cox.
