Jo Barber, 77, passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, in Granbury.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Baker Baptist Church, 1912 Baker Cut Off Road, Weatherford.
Interment: Community Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the Barber family suggests contributions in Jo's memory to the Humane Society of North Texas, 1840 East Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76103, Attn: Donor Services or, Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, N.C. 28607-3000.
Jo Shackelford Barber was born March 6, 1934, in Millsap, daughter of the late Barnett Gibbs and Gladys Erlene Simms Shackelford. She made her career as a bookkeeper for the McDavid, Byron Rice, and Hooks automobile dealerships. Jo enjoyed yardwork and gardening and was a member of Baker Baptist Church. She graduated with the Weatherford High School class of 1952 and attended Weatherford College.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Barber; her parents; a brother, Dee Shackelford and wife, Doris; and sister-in-law, Margaret Shackelford.
Survivors: Daughter, Patti Garland and husband, Tommy, of Granbury; grandsons, Scott and Ryan Garland of Granbury; brother, Bill Shackelford of Weatherford; sisters-in-law, Martha Colliflower of Weatherford, Claranne Crumpton of Dallas, and Bobbie Novak of Mineral Wells; and a host of loving family and friends.
