Robert Dale Rogers, 78, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in Bedford. Service: 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, 200 Church St, Azle, 76020. Interment: Ash Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 6:30 to 8 P.M. Friday at White's Azle Funeral Home. In leiu of flowers donations may be made in Bob's name to Texas Health Harris Methodist Foundation HEB, 1600 Hospital Parkway, Bedford, TX 76022.Bob was born in Higginsville, Mo., Lafayette County. He was the tenth child of 12 born to William C. and Myrtle Mae Gunter Rogers. Bob grew up in Higginsville, Missouri, and after graduation joined the Air Force during which time he met and married Betty Ann Yates on March 20, 1954. They made their home in Azle, Texas where they raised their three boys, Robert Dale Rogers, Jr., William Carter Rogers and Britain Eral Rogers. Bob made a living for his family as a truck driver for Montgomery Ward then went on to work for the Post Office from which he later retired. Once Bob retired, he enjoyed spending time making all kinds of wood crafts in his shop. He would build everything from custom made bird houses, banks for the grandkids and furniture. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 50 years, Betty Ann Rogers; and son, Bryan Lee Rogers;and five brothers; and one sister.Bob is survived by his three sons, Robert Rogers and wife, Pat, William Rogers and Lianne , Brit Rogers and wife, Liz; special friend, Cleta Mitchell; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Hazel, Betty, Deannie, Donna and Glenn; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
