Charles Gibson

Charles Gibson, 74, passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, in Bedford.Graveside service: 1 p.m. Friday in Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at White's Funeral Home, 401 North Main Street, Springtown.Charles R. Gibson was born May 3, 1937, in Haskell County, son of the late Wilson and Ophelia Leach Gibson. Charles was a 1955 graduate of Rule High School and a 1962 graduate of Texas Tech University. In 1992, Charles received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Texas Tech, an award he was very proud to have received. Charles made his career in chemical and fertilizer sales and last worked as Vice President of Sales for First Mississippi. Charles was an avid golfer and liked to fish. He was extensively involved in the alumni program at Texas Tech. Charles honorably served his country in the United States Army.Charles was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.Survivors: Wife, Dolores Gibson of Bedford; son, Brett Gibson of Iowa; brother, Larry Gibson and wife, Jean, of Springtown; nephew, Shane Gibson and wife, Jennifer, of Decatur; niece, Shawna Allen and husband, Ben, of Springtown; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins.
