Loraine Hall Ellis

HURST -- Loraine Ellis, 97, passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at a nursing facility in Hurst. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Interment: Central Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home. Loraine Hall Ellis was born Jan. 16, 1914, in Oran, daughter of the late George and Eula Hall. When Loraine was 4, her mother died and she and her younger sister were raised by their loving maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Garland. She graduated from Springtown High School in 1932 and remained at home caring for her aging grandparents until she met and married Robert Lee Ellis in 1938. Loraine lived her life in Weatherford and the Fort Worth area. While living in Fort Worth, Loraine worked for Monnig's Department Store (The Fair) for many years. After moving back to Weatherford in 1967, she and her husband enjoyed living on a small farm north of Weatherford. Loraine belonged to the North Side Homemakers Extension Club for 25 years. She held various positions while a member and loved the friends and activities that the club provided. She was a member of the auxiliary at Campbell Memorial Hospital (Weatherford Regional Medical Center) for many years and worked in the gift shop. Loraine was a devoted Christian and was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Weatherford. She and her husband were faithful members of Westridge Baptist Church in Fort Worth for many years before his death. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and devoted friend who will be greatly missed. Loraine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ellis, in 1998; her parents; and sister, Vivian Swearingen, in 2004. Survivors: Son, Terry Ellis and wife, Jane, of Colleyville; daughter, Donna Mullen and husband, Terry, of Hurst; grandchildren, Rob Ellis and wife, Julie, of Grapevine, Melissa Mullen of Hurst, Todd Mullen and wife, Cindy, of Grapevine and Brett Mullen of Sherman; and great-grandchildren, Grayson and Meredith Ellis and Ryley and Madison Mullen.
