MINERAL WELLS -- Doyle Roberson, 90, went to be with his Heavenly father Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, surrounded by family in Mineral Wells. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Salesville Baptist Church, 1581 Salesville Road, Mineral Wells. Reverend Lonnie DeArmond will officiate. Interment: Strawn Cemetery. No formal evening visitation is scheduled. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the Roberson family suggests contributions in Doyle's memory to the Salesville Baptist Church Building Fund, 1581 Salesville Road, Mineral Wells, Texas 76067. Doyle Lee Roberson was born April 22, 1921, in Coalville, son of the late Riley and Lillie Carson Roberson. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force and retired after 30 years of dedicated service. After retirement from military service, Doyle made his career with Illinois Tool and Southern Airways, retiring from both after many years of service. He liked fishing but his passion was reading western novels and working with pecan trees. It was said that Doyle could plant a stick and it would grow. Doyle was a longtime member of Salesville Baptist Church. Doyle was preceded in death by his wife of 22 years, Lila Ruth Roberson; a granddaughter, Kimberly Croy; four brothers; and one sister. Survivors: Daughters, Vicki Croy and husband, Robert, of Casper, Wyo., Joyce Cooper of Mineral Wells, Linda Smith and husband, Kenneth, of Springtown, and Jodi Shannon of Mineral Wells; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Charlsie Hughes of El Paso; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
