MINERAL WELLS -- William Austin "Bill" Ross Jr., 83, of Mineral Wells, died Thursday evening, Oct. 20, 2011, at Towers Nursing Home in Smithville. Graveside service: 1 p.m. Tuesday in Woodland Park Cemetery, Mineral Wells. Visitation: 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at White's Funeral Home, 101 N.E. 4th Ave., Mineral Wells. Bill graduated from Midwestern University with a Bachelor of Science Degree, as well as from Dallas Institute-Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science and was licensed by the State Board of Morticians as a funeral director and embalmer. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving as hospital corpsman 3rd class during the Korean War and while assigned to Nevada participating in nuclear testing. Until no longer physically able, Bill gave freely of his time assisting those in need of care, whether family, friend or community member. He was gifted artistically and will be remembered as a loyal son, talented friend and animal lover. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Betty Lou Seaman Ross, long time residents of Mineral Wells; and, his beloved Pella, a black labrador retriever, his best friend. Survivors: Bill is survived by his aunt, Veda Seaman Kent, of Smithville; and numerous cousins across Texas and beyond. White's Funeral Home Mineral Wells, 940-325-3311
