AZLE -- Jay Lopez, 65, passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, surrounded by family in Fort Worth. Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of White's Funeral Home, 105 Denver Trail, Azle. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday. Jay "Palermo" Lopez Jr. was born March 29, 1946, in Marfa, son of the late Pale and Petra Molinar Lopez. He loved spending time with his wife, Luli, whom he married in 1968 in Odessa. Jay graduated from Kermit High School and the University of Texas at El Paso and made his career as a safety consultant. He was a member of Iglesia Cristiana Juda where he would translate the sermons into English. Jay was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors: Wife of 43 years, Luli Lopez, of Azle; sons, Trey Lopez and wife, Cristi, and Marco Lopez and wife, Kristi, all of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Aydric Lopez, Kallista Gaber, Haley Wilkerson, and Annabella Petra; siblings, Joe Sonny Lopez, Pauline Lopez, Eddiebeto Lopez, Freddie Don Lopez, and Rolando Lopez; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends.
