SPRINGTOWN -- Tommy Thomas, 60, passed away Friday, January 28, 2011. After a strong and brave 4 year battle with cancer he went home to be with Jesus. Funeral: 2:00 p.m. Monday at LaJunta Baptist Church. 5207 E. Highway 199., Springtown. Interment: Alvord Cemetery, in Alvord Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at White's Funeral Home. 401 N. Main St., Springtown. Tommy was born Sept. 25, 1950 in Weatherford, to BK and Mozelle Flossie Thomas. In 1970 he married the former Terry Nason in Palo Pinto County. Tommy was a beloved husband, devoted father to his daughter and #1 son-n-law, his son and #1 daughter-n-law, and proud grandfather of three. His love of family extended to all his 9 brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. His dedication to family was evident in all he did. Tommy was known for his great smile and crystal blue eyes. Although affectionately known as a stubborn old goat, his personality warmed the hearts of all those who knew him. He never met a stranger. He was a cowboy with a heart the size of Texas. He loved his boots, hats, and wranglers but nothing made him beam more than his grandkids who had a special relationship with their papa. He left a legacy of selfless sacrifice for family that will be passed for generations.
