Alwyn Scyon Shearer, 93, of Azle left his earthly body Thursday, February 25, 2010.Services: 2:00 P.M. Monday at White's Funeral Home Chapel in Azle.Interment: Azleland Cemetery.Visitation: 4 to 6 P.M. Sunday, February 28, 2010 at White's Azle Funeral Home. Pall Bearers will be: Eddie Joe Shearer, Kenneth Shearer, Robert Shearer, James Stephens, Rick Herring and Jackie Geary.Alwyn Scyon Shearer was born September 24, 1916 in Winnsboro, to Willie Guy and Addie Kathryn Shearer. He served in the United States Army in WW II under General Patton. Alwyn received many metals during his time of service including the Purple Heart. He was wounded February 9, 1945 and was treated in Paris France.He married Luella Stephens, May 29, 1948 in Memphis, TX. She was his best friend, love of his life, and caretaker. Alwyn was an excellent provider for his family as a dedicated hard worker. He worked at Armours until it closed, as a builder for Joe Newsome Construction and for Fort Worth ISD in the Warehouse until he retired at the age of 80.His proudest job of all was being a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.He loved fishing, hunting, old western movies and never missed the opportunity to watch a Texas Ranger game. Alwyn loved having his grandchildren and great grandchildren spend the night. You would see him driving the streets of Azle with his best buddy, his dog, Rowdy in his white pickup until he could not drive anymore. He enjoyed a simple life but one with many riches that were priceless.He was proceeded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.He leaves behind his wife of 61 years Luella; sons, Willie Leon Shearer and wife, Jill, David Shearer and wife,Monica; grandchildren and spouses; Rhonda and Marvin Wyrick,Staci and Stephen Soriano, Sara and Justin Potter, Danetta Reed, Damen and Kristin Robbins; great-grandchildren, Colby, Cayden, Taylor, Kyndal, Olivia, and Payton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
