RENO -- Velma Lou Harris, 85, loving mother and grandmother, passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at a local care facility. Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Walnut Creek Baptist Church, 220 W. Reno Road, Azle. Interment: Nelson Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home in Springtown. Velma Harris was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Lawton, Okla., to the late Cleatus and Lilly Carpenter Brammer. She was a factory worker, farmed and was also a housewife. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvie Harris, on Oct. 6, 1995; her parents, Cleatus Brammer and Lilly Carpenter; and sisters, Zelma Soley, her twin, Florene Mallory, and Viola Mosley, all of Aurora. Survivors: Sons, Michael Harris and wife, Marilyn, of Lawton, Okla., Sammy Harris and wife, Patty, of Hot Springs, Ark.; grandchildren, Amy Scheets and husband, Wes, of Bridgeport, Susan Stogner and husband, Brian, of Frisco, Amber Compton and husband, Todd, of Hot Springs, Ark., Shane Harris of Fayetteville, Ark., Michael Harris and Megan of Florida; great-grandchildren, Wesley and Wendie Scheets, Branden and Brittany Baker, Ava Compton, Jayson Stogner and Pierson Harris; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
