Mildred Latham Burkhalter died on Saturday, January 30, 2010 in an Azle nursing Home. A graveside service will be held at the Springtown Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010.She was born and raised in Springtown, attending Springtown schools, marrying and raising her children there. Except for a few years in Houston she lived her entire live in Springtown. She was a talented seamstress and many people in Springtown appreciated her work over the years. Mildred was a descendant of some of the pioneers that settled Parker County and Springtown after the Civil War. Some of her ancestors in Parker County were the Lathams, Morrows, Williams, Witts, Youngs and the Clemmers. Her husband, James W. (Casey) Burkhalter proceeded her in death in 1980 as well as her son, James Edward Burkhalter in 1989. She is survived by a daughter, Gwen King and husband William H. King of SanAntonio; five beloved grandchildren: William Duncan King of San Antonio, Vicky Diane Puckett, James Edward Burkhalter, Jr. and Misty Elaine and husband Phil Baumann, all of Houston, and Donna Gail Carroll of Fort Worth; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Billie Frances Gunter and many nieces and nephews.
