Metta Mae Barnes

Metta Mae Barnes, 89, loving mother and grandmother, passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, December 27, 2009.

Graveside service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Cottondale Cemetery in Paradise.

Metta, the second of five children, was born February 5, 1920 to Carl and Lillie Mae Dodson Frasure in Evant. She graduated from Evant High School, married Floyd Barnes in 1940 and together they raised four sons. Metta was a long time member of the Haltom Road Baptist Church, loved the outdoors and enjoyed playing dominoes.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Floyd in 1976, son, J. C. Barnes in 2003, her parents and four brothers and sisters.

Survivors: Sons, Lee Barnes and Carol Kelley of Lake, Mississippi, Milton Barnes and wife, Linda of Chesapeake Bay, Virginia and Howard Barnes and wife, Nancy of Fort Worth; six grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; daughter-in-law, Jane Barnes of Iowa Park and a host of loving friends.
