POOLVILLE -- Joe Francis Stubblefield, 72, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, surrounded by family in Fort Worth. Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at Poolville United Methodist Church, 230 W. Church St., Poolville. Interment: Lone Star Cemetery, Advance Road, Poolville. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund at Poolville United Methodist Church. Joe Francis Stubblefield was born Dec. 14, 1936, in Benton, Miss., son of the late Joe Wyche and Frances Beatrice Winstead Stubblefield. Joe was a graduate of Yazoo City High School in Yazoo City, Miss., and served in the United States Navy from 1955 through 1959. He married the former Dorothy Jane "DJ" Davis in Fort Worth on Jan. 18, 1960, and together started their family. Joe made his career as a fireman at Lockheed and retired after more than 37 years of dedicated service. Joe was a member of Poolville United Methodist Church since 1987 and Masonic Lodge #601 in Azle. He liked to spend his free time as a woodcarver and woodworker and enjoying his grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his mother in 1989; father in 1970; and sister, Freida Ann Stubblefield, in 1943. Survivors: Wife, Dorothy Jane "DJ" Stubblefield of Poolville; daughter, Donna S. Van Winkle of Weatherford; son, Kurtis Stubblefield and wife, Lisa, of Dallas; and granddaughters, Skylar Jane and Lexi Jo Van Winkle.
