AZLE -- Roman Katrycz, 86, passed away Friday, July 10, 2009, while surrounded by his family and friends. Graveside service: 9 a.m. Monday in Ash Creek Cemetery, Azle. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at White's Funeral Home, 105 Denver Trail,Azle. Roman was born Romanus Katrycz on July 30, 1922, son of the late Onuphrius and Anna Nester Katrycz in Rypiany Parish, Galica, Ukraine. He married Josepha Jurkiewicz in Halle, Germany on Aug. 26, 1945. Roman worked as a dairyman for twenty-six years in the Weatherford area and a highway contractor in Waco for several years before retiring and returning to Azle. Roman was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years on Oct. 24, 1999. Survivors: Three children, Jaroslaw Slocum Katrycz and wife, Vicky, of Springtown, Tolli Katrycz and wife, Katy, of Arlington, and Lelia Bird of Springtown; beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Catherine Katrycz of Weatherford, Michelle Katrycz of Fort Worth, Angie Remich and husband, Jason, and their children, Jordan and Cody, of Azle, Terri Martinez and husband, Michael, and their daughters, Mikayla and Melissa, of Waco.
